KLT Begins Fundraising to Create Hungarian Falls Nature Area
How You Can Donate
After careful consideration and recognizing the expressed concerns and desires of many hundreds of individuals, the Keweenaw Land Trust has decided to pursue purchase of the 10-acre parcel that includes the upper Hungarian Falls. KLT has a special opportunity to protect a special place for the community by establishing a public nature area with the land that includes the upper falls, the historic dam, a parking area, and hiking trails that connect with trails on the adjoining MDNR land surrounding the Hungarian gorge.

Success with this project will depend heavily on public support and the KLT Board has challenged the community to help us raise $40,000 to cover upfront project costs. We have a $10,000 challenge offered if KLT can raise $30,000 and get 100 new members by April 30th. Let’s meet the challenge! If we’re successful, the public can continue to enjoy one of the area’s most visited and special places, with a convenient parking area and easy hike to the upper falls.

Please follow our progress with this project and support our efforts in any way that you can. Thank You for your support!
