Jan. 2009 - Talvi Skijour Race to Happen on January 17
Local Trail Enthusiasts Keep Event Alive

Local trail enthusiasts interested in keeping the
TalviTohinat tradition of a fun and festive race event
alive have stepped up to offer a skijour race on Saturday,
January 17. The Red Jacket Cycling Team has taken the
lead, stepping up with a dozen volunteers, and with
support from the Michigan Tech Trails staff and
management, numerous individual volunteers and local
businesses, the Talvi skijoring race will go on and new
this year will include both 4k Sport and 11k Expert
classes. All proceeds will benefit the Tech Trails.

Michigan Tech Trails; main trail head - Houghton, MI
Time:
12:30 pm: mandatory pre-race meeting
1:00 pm: Sport class start; 1 min. intervals
1:30 pm: Expert class start; 1 min. intervals
Categories: Sport (1 dog), Expert (1 dog & 2 dog)
Distance: Sport: 4k, Expert: 11k
Cost: Entries recevied before 1/14/2009
Sport: $10, Expert: $15
($5 late fee)
Prizes: Custom dog tags to category winners
